By that then 67 it’s definitely not a west Midlands like you say.
Have you found anything that states that Derby is West Midlands yet?Thought not, that’s because anything mentioned in a geographical sense says it’s a East Midlands.
You can try and mug yourself more by sticking with your statement of it being West Midlands because of a choo, choo train line but you’ll be arguing with whomever deemed it East Midlands.

Wiki is not always right its say high speed railway in 200kph which is 125mph so it means we have high speed railway since the 70s, The definition is 250 kph around 177mph,

I see Sunderland ground out a 0-0 at Portsmouth to make it to Wembley for the league 1 final.
Charlton are at home to Doncaster tonight with a 2-1 lead (& Josh Cullen).
Likely to be a replay of the 4-4 Championship playoff final of Clive Mendonca’s hat-trick and Sasa Ilic saving the last penalty from Michael Gray.

Not wrong in your summary gph but for some reason like much of this countries regions they managed to confuse it by splitting just the Midlands region into two with it either being West or East Midlands. Derby has been deemed the in the East i’m guessing because they are just on the right centre of the country like you say.

I reckon it's slightly closer to the East coast, but other bits of Derbyshire aren't.
I think the Central Midlands are really where it is.

67 geography doesn’t go by how they name a railway line, Derby is East Midlands it’s why they have an East Midlands rivalry with Nottingham Forest.
